Finding Balance

An unscheduled lay-day

We were scheduled to train arms today, but between car repairs and family commitments, it didn’t happen. And that’s ok. Part of this journey is learning how to stay on your path while remaining realistic, flexible and balancing out life’s demands.

Letting Life Happen

Like with any venture we take on, there are challenges and bumps in the road that we must deal with. Learning any new skill requires time and dedication; and we need to learn how to remain flexible to be able to dodge and weave through life’s obstacles.

Hunting is unpredictable. There will be times when things won’t go according to plan. We need to be prepared to be out for a week in bad weather without seeing any animals and still have the mental fortitude to stay positive, alert and focused. So, as much as the Primal Pursuit journey is about mitigating failure, it’s also about preparing your mind and spirit to remain fluid, flexible and in the moment.

A Hike up North Table Mountain at Sunrise

This day, things did not go according to plan, however, I still got outdoors, got a good workout and got to spend time with friends. We took a nice hike starting at sunrise up the Mesa Top Trail to the top of North Table Mountain. It’s a good trail with some steep sections for a total of 900 vertical feet. I threw a 40 lb stone in my pack just for good measure.

So, even when things don’t go according to plan, we need to allow ourselves to live with it, enjoy the journey and keep moving forward.
